PRINCIPAL'S MESSAGE
James A. McDivitt Elementary School
Principal’s Message
Dear Parents and Students:
It is a pleasure to welcome you to McDivitt School.
McDivitt School is a New Jersey State School of Character and a National School of Character. Character Education is embedded in the McDivitt School daily culture. The six pillars of good character are our core values. We review anti-bullying strategies, mindfulness, and Kelso's Choices. All of our students have the opportunity to demonstrate their citizenship and leadership skills as the school year progresses through Pay It Forward and Service Learning Activities.
Administration and Staff are dedicated to meeting the academic and social needs of our students. The students and staff work to address the New Jersey Student Learning Standards and prepare for the State’s Standardized testing for grade 3, 4, & 5 in the spring of each year. The staff encourages our students to participate and support the many school initiatives provided during the school year.
Our fifth grade students work hard to earn Honor Roll status. The students who earn Honor Roll are recognized at the end of the year with the Gold/Silver Presidential Awards. Best wishes to each of you as you strive to do your best.
The McDivitt School PTA sponsors programs throughout the school year which enhance creative thinking and learning such as STEM Nights, Reading Night, Cultural Arts events, and science based assemblies. McDivitt PTA also demonstrates unselfish contribution to the overall well being of the students in our school, the families at McDivitt and the community at large. Parents are encouraged to be a part of our dynamic PTA. Our children succeed when parents and school staff work together as partners in Education. The staff and students of McDivitt School thank our PTA for the never-ending energy, the constant willingness to be of assistance and in general for the great effort each member of the PTA contributes. PTA is open to every parent. Please come out and join us.
The McDivitt School monthly events are available on the parent portal under Parent Correspondence. Mrs. Pulaski does an outstanding job putting as much information as possible on the portal each month.
Pick Up Patrol is what we use every day for student dismissal. This is the only program we use for student dismissal. You will receive an invitation to join the Pick Up Patrol.
All parents need to be aware of the district's online, Realtime Parent Portal site: https://www.fridayparentportal.com/oldbridge
Real Time is where parents will find information on scheduling, report cards, attendance, etc. Parents are responsible to keep all demographic information on Real Time updated, as this is our emergency information: in case we should need to contact home.
Aramark provides our school lunches. Parents should utilize the online meal time site to pre-pay their child's lunch. Maintaining the mealtime account allows the parents to manage the child's lunch monies. All monies left on the account in June transfer to the next school year.
The meal time site is: www.mymealtime.com Parents will need their child's student ID number to sign-up.
If you should have any questions or concerns, please do not hesitate to contact me at (732) 360-4512 or e-mail me at Laurie.Coletti@obps.org.
Sincerely,
Laurie Anne Coletti, M.A.
