Coucou, La France!
After three long years, Old Bridge School District resumed its "Around the World with OB" exchange and study abroad programs as OBHS students of French travelled to Nîmes, France for an exclusive 9-day exchange with students of Lycée Albert Camus.
Our students experienced a full immersion study and tour program which included day trips and walking tours of Nîmes, Arles, Baux de Provence and Avignon, some of the oldest and most historic Roman towns in southern France. Our students stayed with French host families and attended classes at the French Albert Camus High School. Students from Albert Camus High School will reciprocate the exchange with a visit to OBHS in April.
OBHS students described the experience as life-changing and one of the most memorable of their lifetimes. "Being able to use and apply the skills learned in a classroom can be one of the most rewarding experiences for students," Director of Arts and Culture, Anahita Keiller stated, adding, "To be fully immersed in the language and culture of a country you have long-studied not only enhances the language-learning experience but affords learners the opportunity to appreciate the challenges that come with it."
The Exchange/Study Abroad programs at Old Bridge have been a long-standing tradition at Old Bridge Schools, highlighting the district's mission to support global citizenship and create awareness and appreciation of the diverse, pluralistic world in which we live. Students who travel the world with us become more confident, empathic and understanding, having the ability to communicate with truly open minds.
