Music and entertainment filled the high school auditorium this past Tuesday, September 21 as elementary instrumental music teachers took to the stage to perform several short sets in a double header concert. The musicians, accompanied by Al Elefante Music and company played to a roomful of empty seats, as the concerts streamed live into elementary classrooms around the district. The recruitment concert performances, usually held live at each school, were instead offered virtually in keeping with health and safety guidance, and distancing protocols.
The Old Bridge elementary instrumental program begins in 4th grade where students are given the opportunity to begin individual lessons in school with periodic ensemble performances throughout the year. The recruitment concerts are held annually to offer students a way to learn about the program, the instruments and their teachers. Old Bridge School District has collaborated with Elefante Music for several years, resulting in a rigorous elementary program which affords students myriad opportunities as they progress through elementary, middle and high school. We are grateful for their collaboration and support each year.
